Washing clutch plates contaminated with large amounts of grease


A company specialized in the maintenance of mechanical components for the automotive industry approached Teknox with:
 - the need to clean clutch discs contaminated by significant amounts of high-viscosity solid grease, in order to facilitate subsequent maintenance activities;
 - the goal of:

  • automating all the washing operations that were previously performed manually;
  • achieving high-quality cleaning of the treated parts, without adding any manual finishing cleaning;
  • optimizing the management of the washing liquid and eliminating the problem of grease foam;
  • reducing washing times and costs.

The best result was achieved thanks to the industrial Unix 120 SZD, a versatile system suitable for various production sectors, capable of effectively treating mechanical components in need of more extreme maintenance.
 

The Unix 120 SZD allows for quick loading of the components to be treated into its integrated washing basket. In this specific case, the system is configured to perform a treatment cycle with: degreasing in 30 minutes, blowing in 2 minutes.


Given the large number of parts to be treated, it was then deemed useful to improve the system's performance by enhancing it with the installation of:

  • a high-pressure pump with a capacity of 400 lt/min at 5 bar;
  • a double washing ramp equipped with special nozzles designed by our technicians and installed in strategic positions to effectively wash contaminants from all surfaces and cavities of the parts to be treated;
  • a DISOIL-P degreaser for oils and fats, to extend the lifespan of the treatment liquids.

Thanks to the high-pressure water sprayed by the nozzles at various angles and the degreasing action of Teknox's professional detergents:
XL10 at 3% (for degreasing), PROMETAL at 0.5% to protect the more delicate parts of the components, ASH at 0.5% to inhibit the transformation of grease into foam)

we achieved excellent washing quality, bringing the parts back to a condition practically "as new".
The grease removed was subsequently extracted from the treatment tank thanks to the DISOIL-P, maximizing the system's effectiveness.
